MERIDIAN YOGA + SOUNDBATH
AWAKEN YOUR BODY’S ENERGETIC PATHWAYS
May 25 and June 8, 2025
SUNDAYS 6pm - 7:30PM
$55
Hosted by Lynn Crounse
Join us for a rejuvenating Meridian Yoga + Soundbath session designed to harmonize your body’s energy pathways and restore vitality from within. Rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), this practice blends gentle yoga postures, breathwork, and mindful movement to stimulate the meridian lines—energetic channels that support organ health, emotional balance, and overall well-being.
This class is perfect for all levels! You'll explore slow, intentional stretches and holds that activate specific meridians. These stretches promote the free flow of Qi (life force energy) while easing physical tension and calming the mind. Whether new to yoga or an experienced practitioner, Meridian Yoga offers a deeply nourishing experience to align, renew, and restore your body’s natural rhythm.
Please bring comfortable clothing, water and an open heart.
What is Meridian Yoga?
Meridian Yoga is a style of yoga that integrates the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and its meridian system with yoga asanas (postures), breathing techniques (pranayama), and mindfulness.
What are the key aspects of Meridian Yoga?
Meridian System: The foundation of Meridian Yoga is rooted in the TCM concept of meridians—a network of invisible energy pathways believed to flow throughout the body. These meridians correspond to specific organs and bodily functions. TCM asserts that health is maintained through a balanced and unimpeded flow of Qi (vital energy) within these meridians.
Yoga Asanas and Meridians: In Meridian Yoga, specific yoga postures are chosen and practiced to stimulate and balance the energy flow within particular meridians. Stretching, compressing, or twisting the body in certain ways can open and activate these pathways.
Focus on Specific Meridians: Different sequences or focuses may target specific meridians or organ systems. For example, certain poses might stimulate the liver and gallbladder meridians, which are believed to be important for detoxification and emotional well-being, according to TCM.
Integration of TCM Principles: Beyond the postures, Meridian Yoga often incorporates other TCM principles, such as:
The Five Elements (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water): Sequences might be structured around these elements and their corresponding meridians.
Yin and Yang: Balancing the energetic qualities of different poses and meridians.
Seasonal Considerations: Practices might be adapted to align with the energy patterns of different seasons in TCM.
Emotional Connections: TCM links specific emotions to different organs and meridians, and Meridian Yoga can address these connections through targeted practices.
Breath and Mindfulness: Breathwork (pranayama) and mindfulness are integral to Meridian Yoga. The breath is a way to move and direct Qi, and mindfulness helps one become more aware of sensations and energy flow within one's body.
What are the benefits of Meridian Yoga?
Meridian Yoga can offer various benefits, including:
Improved energy flow and vitality.
Enhanced organ function.
Emotional balance and regulation.
Increased flexibility and range of motion.
Deeper connection to the body's energetic landscape.
Support for specific health conditions (though this should always be discussed with a healthcare professional).
Our workshop will be led by Lynn Crounse, a modern medicine woman, urban herbalist, yogini, and grandmother whose life journey has taken her through the vibrant deserts of California, the serene woods of a remote ashram in Virginia, and beyond.
